Why Student Centered?

importance and relevence of this lesson

Student centered lessons and activities are important in the classroom because it empowers the children to control their own education. When this control is given to the children they are more likely to appreciate the new information, respect the requirements they help to develop, and continue investigation and learning on their own.

Classrooms that incorporate student centered learning require the confidence and willingness by the teacher to make the extra effort and explore something with which they may be unfamiliar. It is important for the children to see that the teacher is learning alongside them and that it can be enjoyed.

The bubbleology lesson displays a child-centered environment because it allows the students to explore various aspects of bubbles and light depending on the questions the formulate. Once the want to know chart is established the class can continue with the intended concept but attempt to tie in relevent questions. After the lesson or during the lesson the class could start to investigate other questions.
