Counting to Ten in German

Time: 45 minutes

 

Objectives:

Children will learn the names for the numbers in German

Children will count to ten in German

Materials:

Procedure:

1. Ask the class if they know any words in another language.

2. Tell students that the lesson today will involve learning to count to ten in German.

3. Place numbers 1-10 on board with corresponding German name.

4. Have class repeat each name after it is read.

Ein, Zwei, Drei, Vier, Funf, Sechs, Sieben, Acht, Neun, and Zehn.

5. Repeat this process

6. Point at a number 7 and ask a student to give the German name (labels are still on the board)

7. Continue this for remaining numbers.

8. Remove numbers from the board.

9. Point at name and ask students what the number is.

10. Ask students if they have any questions

11. Hand out worksheet which has both types of questions on it to determine if students have learned the material.
