This web portfolio is an attempt to illustrate my theory and implementation of teaching for others and my own growth. Using the procedures I have outlined in the various subheadings entitled, planning, teaching, reflection, and being a professional has allowed me to most effectively reach the students in a long term approach.

My planning process has been evolving since the first objective was written in my first lesson plan. Various techniques and methods have been incorporated as I am introduced into new theory and new experiences. As an educator I must always be aware of new ideas because as a lifelong learner we are never a finished product, but instead always being refined into something better.

My teaching section has also been an ongoing area of growth. This section has taken on dramatic changes this semester(Fall of Senior year) because this is the most time I have spent in front of a classroom that is being primarily run by me on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Guidance and support provided by my mentor teacher have enabled me to test classroom management techniques and teaching styles. The mentors open mind has allowed both of us to grow as a result of our relationship.

The reflecting section is where the most growth occurs. This is because it involves analyzing an action after the fact and critiquing what went right and why, bad and why and what we think we should change. This format allows us to learn from our experiences and become better teachers. As teachers we must constantly reflect on theory, lessons, and assessment to make sure that the techniques we are using are best suited for our students.

The last section being a professional provides an avenue for me to express the steps I have taken toward becoming a teacher and working in a teaching career. The responsibilities of a teacher are far reaching and must not be taken lightly. Professionalization of the field will benefit teachers and students.

Each of these sections is a valuable representation of my teaching method and helps demonstrate my constantly changing theory. This site will be under construction continually because in order to accurately represent me it must also change as I grow.
